§ 73.615 Turmeric oleoresin.
?。╝) Identity. (1) The color additive turmeric oleoresin is the combination of flavor and color principles obtained from turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) by extraction using any one or a combination of the following solvents:
Acetone
Ethyl alcohol
Ethylene dichloride
Hexane
Isopropyl alcohol
Methyl alcohol
Methylene chloride
Trichloroethylene
The definition of turmeric oleoresin in this paragraph is for the purpose of identity as a color additive only, and shall not be construed as setting forth an official standard for turmeric oleoresin under section 401 of the act.
?。?) Color additive mixtures made with turmeric oleoresin may contain as diluents only those substances listed in this subpart as safe and suitable in color additive mixtures for coloring foods.
?。╞) Specifications. Turmeric oleoresin shall contain no more residue of the solvents listed under paragraph (a)(1) of this section than is permitted for the corresponding solvents in spice oleoresins under applicable food additive regulation in parts 170 through 189 of this chapter.
(c) Uses and restrictions. Turmeric oleoresin may be safely used for the coloring of foods generally, in amounts consistent with good manufacturing practice, except that it may not be used to color foods for which standards of identity have been promulgated under section 401 of the act, unless the use of added color is authorized by such standards.
?。╠) Labeling. The color additive and any mixtures intended solely or in part for coloring purposes prepared therefrom shall bear, in addition to the other information required by the act, labeling in accordance with the provisions of §70.25 of this chapter.
?。╡) Exemption from certification. Certification of this color additive is not necessary for the protection of the public health, and therefore batches thereof are exempt from the certification requirements of section 721(c) of the act.
§73.615 姜黃油樹(shù)脂
?。╝)特性:
?。?)著色劑姜黃油樹(shù)脂,是以香味料和色素為主的復(fù)合物,由姜黃(Curcuma longa L.)用下列溶劑中的一種或若干種提取而得:
丙酮 異丙醇
乙醇 甲醇
二氯乙烷 二氯甲烷
己烷 三氯乙烯
本欄中所指的姜黃油樹(shù)脂,僅指用做著色劑者,不同于法規(guī)401節(jié)中所指具有法定標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的姜黃油樹(shù)脂。
?。?)用姜黃油樹(shù)脂所配制成的食用著色劑混合料,只能選用本分部所列的可安全和適用于食品著色的著色劑混合物稀釋劑。
?。╞)質(zhì)量規(guī)格:姜黃油樹(shù)脂中所含有的本節(jié)(a)(1)中所列的溶劑的殘留量,不得超過(guò)本章第170至189各部分中所列的允許使用的食品添加劑中香辛料油樹(shù)脂中所規(guī)定的溶劑殘留量。
?。╟)使用和限制條件:姜黃油樹(shù)脂在符合現(xiàn)行GMP用量條件下,可安全地用于一般食品的著色,但不得用于本法規(guī)§401頒布的已確定標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的食品的著色,除非所加入的色素是這類標(biāo)準(zhǔn)所允許的。
?。╠)標(biāo)簽標(biāo)注方式:本著色劑和任何含有本著色劑的混合料,擬單獨(dú)使用或起部分著色效果時(shí),除法規(guī)所規(guī)定的其它所需說(shuō)明外,其標(biāo)簽還應(yīng)符合本章§70.25中的規(guī)定。
?。╡)免除產(chǎn)品證書:本著色劑免除產(chǎn)品證書以保護(hù)公眾健康。所生產(chǎn)的每一批產(chǎn)品也免除按法規(guī)§721(c)中所規(guī)定的需要產(chǎn)品證書。
